Individual counselling

A private space to understand what you’re carrying.

You may feel anxious, overwhelmed, low, stuck or changed by something difficult. Counselling offers time to make sense of your experience and begin finding a steadier way forward.

You can begin wherever you are. You do not need a diagnosis, a perfect explanation or a clear solution before making contact.
Reasons people come to counselling

Something may feel difficult—even if it is hard to put into words.

These are common starting points, not requirements. Your reasons for seeking support are personal to you.

∞

Anxiety and overwhelm

Persistent worry, racing thoughts, tension, panic or feeling unable to switch off.

○

Grief, loss and change

Bereavement, separation, health changes, menopause, retirement or another major transition.

↘

Low mood and confidence

Feeling flat, disconnected, self-critical or less able to cope than you once did.

↻

Repeated patterns

Noticing the same reactions, relationships or situations recurring without knowing how to change them.

◇

Stress and burnout

Too much responsibility, workplace pressure, caring demands or emotional exhaustion.

…

Feeling stuck

A sense that something is not right, even when there is no single crisis or obvious cause.

How counselling can help

Understanding can create room for change.

Counselling gives you a regular, confidential space to slow things down and look more closely at what you are experiencing. Julia will listen without judgement and help you explore feelings, experiences and patterns that may be difficult to understand alone.

The work is collaborative. Julia will not tell you how to live your life or force you towards a particular outcome. Instead, sessions can help you understand yourself more clearly, recognise choices and find responses that feel realistic and meaningful.

Sessions are shaped around you

Julia works integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches rather than applying one fixed formula. Some sessions may focus on present-day coping; others may explore earlier experiences or relationships that still affect you now.

What to expect

A thoughtful process, without pressure.

Begin with what matters now

You can talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you would like to feel different.

Explore at your pace

There is no need to disclose everything immediately. Trust and understanding can develop over time.

Notice new possibilities

Greater awareness can help you respond differently, communicate more clearly and make choices with more confidence.

Common questions

Before you begin

Do I need to know exactly what I want to talk about?

No. Many people begin with a general sense of being overwhelmed, low or stuck. Julia can help you clarify what feels important as you talk.

How frequently would we meet?

This is something to agree together. Regular sessions can provide continuity, while the practical arrangement should also be manageable for you.

What happens during the introductory call?

It is a low-pressure opportunity to ask questions, briefly explain what you are looking for and see whether Julia may be a suitable counsellor for you.
